Google, at its global Google I/O 2024 event, made the formal announcement that its recently rechristened generative AI chatbot – Gemini AI – is going to enable Android phones and totally reimagine how smartphones work. At the event, Google announced a three-pronged plan to inject AI computing into mobile devices — meshing AI search into Android, making Gemini the all-new AI assistant, and leveraging on-device AI.
A real-world example of Gemini AI’s intelligent capabilities lies in its ‘circle to search’ feature soon-to-be-launched in all new-generation Android devices. This feature will enable users to identify physically circled objects within an image, using the power of generative AI and machine learning. Along the way, Google also promises to simplify the computation and creation of complex graphs and statistics.
In short, Google is set to provide context-aware suggestions, answers and prompts integrated into Android phones, all powered by AI.
