In the face-off between AI and climate change, AI wins (in the long run)

Four years ago, Microsoft pledged to remove more carbon from the world that its manufacturing processes emit. However, the company’s carbon emissions are actually 30% more as of today, compared to 2020 levels. But the silver lining lies in the fact that Microsoft’s commitment to creating pathbreaking AI solutions might have temporarily caused an increase in carbon levels. In the long run, AI is slated to massively help conserve energy and move towards a more sustainable future.
